Happy Bay
Happy Bay is the next beach when heading east from Friar’s Bay. What’s interesting about Happy Bay is that although it is a simply stunning beach, perhaps one of the most breathtaking on the island of St. Maarten, it is mostly abandoned. Why? Because it’s not a beach that can be reached easily. No access road with a dedicated parking lot to be found here. To reach Happy Bay, ambitious beach goers should start on the extreme west end of Friar’s Bay.
There are rarely more than a handful of people on this beach. As such, it is more likely to encounter topless or nude sunbathers here than other, more populated areas. As can be imagined, there are no amenities whatsoever at Happy Bay. Food, drinks, and any other comforts desired will need to be carried in and out.
