Trunk Bay is St. John’s most well known beach, and it’s most visited. This popularity is no mistake – it is thought of by many to be one of the world’s best beaches. What makes it so? Beautiful white sand, crystal clear water, shady palm trees, and swimming and snorkeling galore.

It’s not just the natural amenities that make this beach a great place to visit. Publicly available showers, bathrooms and changing rooms are just the beginning. There are also picnic tables, grills, and a large covered pavilion that can be reserved for private gatherings, as well as telephones, a gift shop, and a snack bar.

There are rentals available for such necessities as snorkeling gear, beach chairs, water toys/floats, lockers, and more. All of this means that while you won’t find the ultimate in privacy, you will be joining many other people that know just as well that Trunk Bay is THE spot to hang out on St. John.

The calm waters in this bay host one of the best snorkeling opportunities around. There is actually an underwater snorkeling trail that is maintained by the National Park. Snorkeling along the trail will lead you to all kinds of amazing sights, many of which are actually labeled by signs that explain exactly what you should be seeing. Now that’s not something you see every day.
